What the letter asks the District of Columbia to do
- Pass a firearm industry responsibility law that holds manufacturers and sellers liable when their marketing or sales practices put the District's children at risk.
- Require that handguns sold in the District of Columbia include technology that keeps them from firing in the hands of a child or any other unauthorized user, as that technology becomes available.
- Strengthen the District's child access prevention law to require that guns be locked whenever they are not in the owner's control.
- To our members of Congress: repeal the federal Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which gives the gun industry an immunity from lawsuits that no other industry enjoys.

Did an official respond to you?
Send us their answer, whether it came by email, letter, phone or in person. We read every response, remove your name and other personal details, record where the official stands on each request, and then publish it here.
Officials and their staff are welcome to use this form to state a position or correct a record. Every entry shows the date and how the response was given. Letter counts are the number of times visitors opened an email to that official from this site; we cannot see whether each email was sent.
